First day!

Oh my. Today I sent my youngest off for her first day of preschool. I can't believe it. Actually, what I can't believe is that I am sitting in this house all by myself. I feel a bit weird - like I don't know what do with myself.
I woke her this morning and she was so excited to get her new backpack, her new shoes and be off to her new school. She danced right into the building with a big ole smile!
And then we got inside, found her name and hung up her stuff. And then she wasn't too sure anymore...

I know they say that the kids will be fine. But my Kallie Wallie is a bit of a loner and much prefers small crowds and spending time at home with all her stuff. So I am not sure she will be "fine" as quickly as other kids. Being our third child, you'd think she would be the most used to crowds and other kiddos. But it is quite the opposite.
Christina, the oldest, has always been the type who will party with as many kids as possible for as long possible. When she started preschool, she danced her way in the door and never looked back.
Kallie did not want to let me leave. She didn't cry, but she stood very still, didn't want to really play with anything and was quite wary of this HUGE crowd of 13 other 3 and 4 year olds. I know, quite the mob in that class - LOL.
Once I finally got her interested in a toy, I quietly left the room and hoped for the best.
Stay tuned!

I love the post and the photographs; they complement one another beautifully. It seems like she is going to be fine. Like a lot of kids, she might just be a bit apprehensive at first, but will probably relax as soon as she finds that friend or two who begin inquiring as to what toy she has.
I sure she'll be fine.
Thinking of you both. :) Can't wait to hear how her day was.
Oh, I hope she had a good day!
This will be me on Thursday. Claire is a bit of a loner too-- independent, not exactly shy, but not exactly the best in big groups either. I think in the end preschool will be very good for her and help build her social skills, but it does make it harder to send them off.
Oh those are gorgeous pictures. I really need to learn how to do that. Yay to a great first day, and ENJOY that time to yourself! So very cool!
