Special Exposure Wednesday!

5 Minutes for Special Needs

Beautiful hands

Caroline has the most beautiful, long fingers. But, do you notice how her pinky curves over her other finger? That is a sign of a child with a chromosome disorder.

To this day, I remember sitting in the hospital room, talking to the genetic counselor as she told us about how these little things confirm what we already knew. Our little girl would never be "normal".

It was the toughest year of my life. But some of the toughest things in life bring the most blessings. And our sweet Caroline is definitely nothing less than a blessing.

I love this pic! And I have missed your blog! I'm so glad to be home! :)

This photo is breathtaking... I hope this doesn't sound condescending, but the photo allows you to see past the "disorder" and just see Caroline's beauty.

I see the beauty of those special fingers...which leads to the precious soul of a beautiful little girl.

Love the depth of field...the little peek of Caroline's face.

First, ALL of your pictures are beautiful. I'm starting to get a complex because of you women who really know how to use a camera:)

My sister always tells me she loves my daughters fingers. I've never understood why, but your picture made me think that maybe she sees that Myah's fingers are also long, slender...and different or special. Thanks

She does have beautiful little hands. I am so glad she is a blessing for your family. You are a blessing for her as well.

This is one of the most beautiful shots you have taken that I have seen. True beauty here...

I didn't know the curved pinky was a sign of a chromosome disorder! Micah's got it too, of course. I find it absolutely adorable.

So beautiful. I have such a lump in my throat after spending my 5minutesforspecialneeds moment reading your posts. We had a rough day today...to many doctors in our day today. Bridgette is only 3 1/2, and I am so tired right now. Thank you for your photo to remind me that I am the mom of an angel, a very special one.

That is the coolest picture. I love the ones that are close up on something unusual to focus on and then have the rest soft and fuzzy. It's pictures like this that make me want to learn how to take better pictures! And interesting fact to know about the finger. I had no idea.

What a beautiful shot! Looks like you are having fun with your new lens.

Beautiful story too.

An absolutely breathtaking photo! My daughter has the curved pinky fingers as well (Cornelia de Lange Syndrome). It was one of the first things they noticed after her birth.

Very creative shot, not just visually, but it makes you think and see more than whatis portrayed visually! You see so much more than you really see, especially with the backgroud info. That is definitely a frameable one!!!

Our God is so awesome! He has placed this very special child (in more ways than one) into a loving family who appreciates and adores her. Lucky her, lucky you.
