Real live bloggers!!!!

Yes, I met real live bloggers yesterday at the Pittsburgh "Burgh Mom" get together. We all met up for some good food, good drinks, HUGE desserts and lots-o-fun!!!

I am not officially a "Burgh Mom" but I am not THAT far from the burgh, and I spent quite a few years living in the burgh, so maybe they would make an exception.

I often miss living in the "city" and a night out with someone other than my husband pretty much never happens. I also was able to sneak in a trip to the mall for some summertime shopping and made a day out it. Which was a definite bonus.

It was a great time . Some of the bloggers I knew, some were new to me, but all were incredible nice, funny and sweet. We had representations from all ages - from early 20's to 40's - some working moms, some SAHMS, some married, some not. Everyone fit in and everyone seemed to have a great time! I know I did!

The wonderful Burgh Moms are (left to right):

Jen from Jayesel

Karen from the Rocking Pony.

Gina from My very last nerve. Gina actually brought everyone gift bags! How sweet it that? Except for the fact that she made the rest of us look bad! (just kidding!)

Kim from Three Dogs and a Baby.

Michelle from The Burgh Baby (who also was the brains and the brawn behind this whole get-together...THANKS!)

Allison from Allison Says.

Yours truly.

And last but definitely not least -

Susan from the One Woman Show.

Seriously. What a great bunch of ladies. Thanks all for letting this "non-burgher" join in the fun.

Anyway, it was a long drive home, and I am not used to being up much past 10:00, but I called my husband and the chatting helped keep me awake.

Everything seemed OK at home. It is not often my husband is solely responsible for getting all 3 kids in bed. Everyone was tucked in bed sound asleep with only a few minor issues:

1. Caroline was put to sleep in her clothes.

2. Apparently a small tornado had gone through our family room.

3. And the kids bedtime was pushed back an hour or so. Dear hubby claims "is no big deal" when the kids stay up late EXCEPT it is sort of a "big deal" because of the fact that no matter how late the kids go to bed, they will wake at 7 a.m on the dot which means cranky kids, fighting kids and just a lot more drama. Ugh.

Oh well, it was definitely worth it and I hope we can do that again. Maybe a little more north next time?

That was SO much fun that my stomach actually hurt when I got home. Y'all rock!

BTW, you are mucho hawter in person than in your profile pic.

Thanks for coming and for making me laugh so much!

It was so awesome meeting you- I agree with BurghBaby's Mom, you are gorgeous!!

I had a similar experience upon my arrival home... there were asparagus chunks all over the floor from dinner, an un-wiped high-chair tray on the dining room table, etc. *sigh* A mother's work is never done! :)

It was so much fun! My son was still up and my daughter was just put to bed (and I suspect only because she fell asleep on her own)and ALSO in her clothes! But I don't care because I needed that night. We're definitely doing it again!

What a great time! It was wonderful to meet you - and you seriously need to update your avatar because it doesn't do you any justice.

Okay, I'm NOT anonymous - it's Karen from the Rocking Pony! Stupid blogger.

I left the last comment.

Sounds like you all had fun. And hmmmm large desserts sound lovely. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh is definitely far ;)

I won't comment on the husband watching the kids foibles, but boy that sounds familiar. Oh, except that in my house going to bed an hour later means getting up about 45 minutes earlier. I'm a little religious on my sleeping rules for that reason, but I'm the only one.

I am a Tornado ~ proven fact! May 24, 2008 11:13 PM

I was seriously late so I missed you...caught up with some ladies in the lot! Next time I'll show up earlier. PROMISE.

Awwwww..... looks like you guys had a great time!

It was so nice to meet you, Irene. I'm glad you made it home without incident with such a long drive. See, still a mom -- even when it comes to worrying about new friends!

hope you're having a good weekend.

BTW, I had to laugh about the tornado through your home comment.

Looks like you all had a great time...what a cute bunch! I'm sure you all enjoyed lots of laughter. Glad your trip back home was uneventful and the kiddos were all tucked in...even if Caroline was wearing her clothes...oh, well.

Sounds like a great night. I love blogger meetups.

PS From your description, I've got a suspicion I've spent time in your neck of the woods :). I have a very dear friend who lives about 45 minutes north of Pittsburgh.

Hey, Irene! Robin (Around the Island Robin) said I should drop in and that we might be close to each other.

I'm sorry to have missed the fun the other night. We were camping last night and I couldn't get away... you know...

Beth from the Funny Farm May 26, 2008 12:56 PM

Drop me an email! I suspect we live fairly close. I was over reading on Burgh Mom and noticed you live North. So do I. I live outside of Stoneboro, PA.

Oh it was SO great to meet you! I had a blast :) And yeah, burgh baby is right...you are absolutely beautiful, far more so than your profile pic lets on! Hope we made you blush ;)

As far as the "it doesn't matter if they stay up later thing:" I could NOT convince my family that this was the case when my son was sleeping a 5 hour stretch starting at 6 and then was up every 1.5-2 hours. Everyone, my mother and grandmother included, kept telling me to just "put him down later." And then...he would sleep from midnight to 6, not 6 to 6. Excellent.

"burgh mom bloggers"??!! really! I actually only live 20 mins north of pittsburgh. how cool is that!

I just came across your blog and am really enjoying it... will have to check out other 'local' bloggers. I think that's fab.
