A little lesson from a Kindergartener

My 6 yo, Christina, likes to play games. All kinds of games, from regular board games to the games she makes up. She recently started playing the opposite game. She names an object, you tell her the opposite. She was playing this game with my husband the other morning. It went something like this:

Christina: What is the opposite of up?

Hubby: Down.

Christina: What is the opposite of big?

Hubby: Small.

Christina: No, little (insert eye roll here).

Then her questions get tougher.

Christina: What is the opposite of a rectangle?

Hubby: Ummmm???

Christina: A square! What is the opposite of a table?

Hubby: Chairs! (good answer dear!)

Christina: What is the opposite of rug?

Hubby: ??????

Christina: Carpet! of course. What is the opposite of a bunny?

Hubby: A bunny? I have no idea.

Christina: Dad, the opposite of a bunny is a frog!

OK then!

The opposite of a bunny is a frog? Maybe she's talking about that they both hop but one is white and one is green? One goes in the water? Love the braids on Caroline!

Heeeheee... kids are so cute. Check out my post to see where babies come from. LOL.

Ya... About That February 5, 2008 9:46 AM

Ha ha - (replying to your post this a.m.) - yes, husband is 6'5, i'm 5'3.5 on a windy day. That's awesome that you're so much taller than your hub, because our little princess is supposed to be 6'1", according to 2-year estimations. I have no idea how to talk to her about THAT. I'll enlist you to do that when the time comes, ya?

Very cute post! I love the know-it-all kids (such as my own). So sweet. :)

I love the eye roll. You'd think we adults would know all these answers!

I love the new banner! Very cute! I also did not know that the opposite of a bunny was a frog. Well, you learn something new every day :)

The surest way to lose a game is to play against a kid.

Sometimes, it's really amazing what kids can come up with. And you have to wonder where they get their ideas from...

This is too funny! My husband and I used to tease my little sister with the "opposite" game. We'd ask her the opposite of crazy things and she'd try to guess and we'd randomly say "yes" or "no" just to frustrate her from finding any pattern in it. Did you know that the opposite of mascara is cottage cheese? :)
