'Tis the season for the great debate....
Wrapping paper or gift bags??
Except I never knew there even was a great debate about this topic, until I entered the blog world.
I never gave gift bags a second thought. And then I started reading some blogs where people were giving their opinion on gift bags and realized there is a whole world out there that hates them. Well, maybe hate is a strong word, they dislike them and feel that gifts should be wrapped.
So, I was thinking about it. I know, there are way more important things to think about, but my thought was "Yes, I like wrapped gifts." I think it is true that there is something more exciting about unwrapping a beautiful package versus opening a bag.
But don't get me wrong, I will take any gift, wrapped or bagged any which way and I REALLY DON'T CARE. But when I give a gift, I think I will try to wrap them. In fact, this year I thought I would make them a little extra nicer and use a pretty ribbon on my packages. Boy, it was so easy, but the gifts look so beautiful sitting under my tree! I guess I just think they look a little more special. Thoughts anyone??
I got all my gifts wrapped yesterday, which is a major feat since I usually do all my wrapping Christmas Eve. I really feel like I accomplished a lot! I need a couple more stocking stuffers, I am going to get something small for my husband, and I am done! Yeah!!!!
But on to more important things.....this is may be the season of giving, but it is also the season of the...BEACH HOUSE! Especially when Kallie was dancing around the house yesterday in her darling sun hat!
Yes, now is the time to start thinking about that summer vacation. For us anyway. We have been going to Hilton Head Island for the last 7 years - with a couple of missed years - and we usually start finding/booking the house right after Christmas. Anyway, as the snow starts to pile up, my thoughts often turn to warm sunny sandy beautiful beaches......mmmmmmmm.

First of all - Thanks a lot! Now I have to go and rewrap all my presents! Not really. But I think I have to go back and add the ribbon. Those presents look like they belong in the NYC store window! Really!
Secondly, I'm ready to go to Hilton Head! It's too early for me to get this excited. At least I got my new bathing suit already.
By the way, 3 year old picks the red one in the middle for hers.
For birthdays and such, I always do gift bags. For Christmas presents, I like them wrapped. But your's are WAY prettier than mine.
Oh, your gifts look pretty!
I hate wrapping but I do it because I like the excitement of the unwrapping part. I do use gift bags (and don't mind so much getting them) for strange shaped, hard to wrap things. So I mix it up and don't feel at all conflicted.
Nice that there is something I can confidently say I am not conflicted about!
Hi! Thanks for the comment & I love your blog too - glad you found me! The pic. of the presents is SO pretty... love them - the ribbon is perfect.. also makes me want to do a better job of wrapping this year - I always wrap, but seem to use the excuse of a 2 and 3-year old 'helping' me as reason to not care that much what they look like.
P.S. - your post on the tree lights dilemma is one I've had in my head for a while. At least you got it on 'paper'. ;) And I love the video of your cat and Caroline - totally heart warming...
Thanks for stopping by my place!
I personally loathe gift bags. If someone who I know really doesn't enjoy wrapping uses them, I don't mind as much. However, when someone takes the time to actually wrap something, I truly do appreciate it. I absolutely love looking at the craptastic job my husband does each year of wrapping my gifts. He tries, and I think it's the sweetest.
I am so proud of you!!! You are really getting into the craft thing. The presents look great. I almost always wrap my gifts because I like the personal touch you can add by doing so. On the RARE occasion I gift bag it, I try to gather the handles on the right side of the bag and make a big bow with streamers so it's not so generic along with colored tissue.
I like to reuse all those great gift bags - I love them - but usually I wrap all the Christmas presents, except the odd shaped ones that fit just perfectly in bags.
We have already booked out cruise for the end of April/early May - I have already started packing - HA. Take care. Kellan
BTW - beautiful picture of Kallie - is she darling or what?
Your packages look perfect. Aren't you glad you wrapped them early so you can enjoy them for an extra couple of days?
Your daughter is SO cute!
I wrote about this awhile back and I'm in FULL support of wrapped presents, unless it's an odd size or shape. Also, I suppose it's alright for a few gifts to be in bags, but NEVER for children. Their gifts should always be wrapped.
As for decorating...I wish I had time to decorate. But I don't, so they are just wrapped.
Your presents look good wrapped under the tree. I'm lucky because my daughter loves to wrap presents so she wraps all of mine for me. I've been dreaming of Hilton Head alot lately. I want to go down the beginning of March before all of the grandbabies come but not sure if it'll work out and my hubby already reserved our vacation there for September. We have family that live there also. Enjoy your sweet girls this Christmas!
Your gifts.... beautiful.
Your daughter.... stunning.
My kiddos and I wrapped all the gifts together. They are bond with rolls and rolls of tape. Tapes has replaced ribbon at our house. We can't wait to see our family open up their gifts this year. Heehee!!!
