Hi! I am a 40 something SAHM, living in a very small town in the middle of nowhereland.
Other than being a wife and mother, I like to run and read and just enjoy the outdoors. I also have recently discovered and have completely fallen in love with the art of photography. I spend many days with a camera attached to me and driving my kiddos a little crazy. I hope, someday, to use my new-found obsession to start a new career path. I am not sure how successful I can be, but I know it would definitely be a dream come true!
My current life now is almost a complete 180 from where I was about 20 years or so ago. I grew up in a medium sized town, not too small, but definitely not big. After high school, I obtained my BS in marketing and yearned for a 'life in a big city'. I moved to Pittsburgh (which was big enough) and worked for a few years before taking a big risk by quitting my job and working full time on my MBA. Some of my fondest "pre-marriage and kids" memories were living in the neighborhood of Shadyside while attending graduate school. VERY good times I tell ya!!!! Upon graduation, I spent quite a few years living and working in and around the 'burgh in a variety of marketing and product management positions until I one day I happened upon "Mr. Right".
Even though I worked hard for my education and enjoyed my life in the city, I always knew if and when I got married, and if and when I had children, I would really want to be a SAHM. I met my hubby when I was 30 and when I absolutely least expected it (isn't that the way it always happens??).
My hubby lived a few hours from the 'burgh in a very small town. Once I knew he was the one, I moved and started a new life in small town USA. We were soon married, and, a few years later, we started our family. I was fortunate enough to be able to quit working and become a full time SAHM. Yes, we watch our pennies and don't have many of the "finer" things in life, but that is A-OK with us!
Even though my life is very different now, I truly would not have it any other way. I like being home with my kids, I like living in the country and I LOVE my 3 little girls:
Christina: My smart almost 7 year old who is always about 10 steps ahead of us. And you know, you have to watch out for those smart ones.
Caroline: My second, my very special, 5 year old. Caroline was diagnosed with a chromosome disorder prior to birth. She wasn't supposed to even survive birth, but here she is, still thriving 5 years later, continuing to prove all the "experts" wrong. She was born with an extra part of her 17th chromosome. It is one of those things that happens at conception and has no cause or known prevention. She is non-verbal, non-mobile and 100% tube fed. But she is also the sweetest, happiest, most animated kid around. She completely changed our life, but she is also definitely a complete and utter blessing to our family.
Kallie: My youngest, my 3 year old. She is, shall we say...difficult...sometimes. She is goofy, crazy, a true comedian, and loves her big sister more than anything in the world. She also is the worst eater ever. She would live on goldfish, cookies, yogurt and milk if she could. Throw some candy into the mix and she would be in hog heaven.
Thanks for stopping by our world! Please come again! Read more...
